Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65ās warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65.
There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.
Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website?
The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65").
The phase control feature allows you to adjust the speakers phase to ensure all audio signals are playing together rather than against each other. When bass notes are noticeably absent, a quick and easy adjustment to the phase control could provide the perfect remedy.
Subwoofer Level Control
The ability to boost or attenuate the sub level when an amp and subwoofer are connected to the subwoofer pre-amp output.
Variable Low Pass Filter
Variable low-pass filter gives you control over the frequencies that pass through to the subwoofer.
Very happy with this equalizer. I ran an RCA to 1/8 female stereo adapter so I could have an aux cord in the front. I play with the subwoofer volume and cutoff all the time to get the correct bass from different genres of music. The high mid and low stay at the default, sounds worse adjusting them either way. I run my phone to the input of this and have it connected to a four channel amp and a subwoofer. Great for a head unit less install, I run near the max volume for everything because of the low input voltage but it works great for me.

You have to balance the gain on front/rear amps to make the sub volume knob play nicely with the fronts
Use it to manage front and subs, equalizer is meh but the volume and subwoofer controls operate perfectly; have subs on 'All Pass' and control the cutoff freq with this operates perfectly. You have to balance the gain on front/rear amps to make the sub volume knob play nicely with the fronts, doesn't seem like a linear curve so take some time to find the sweet spot.

Great EQ !!!
This SSL EQ really works well for me. It performs like a champ so far. In my opinion it's a great EQ for the money. Along with my amp, this work great for my tweeters and mids. Just added 10" subs and it sounds sweet !

Very nice EQUALIZER for the price it truly went above all ...
Very nice EQUALIZER for the price it truly went above all my expectations only thing that is useless is the plexiglass top so you can see the inside of it and the lighting will shine through it. But because of mounting the unit you can't see the top of the EQUALIZER plus I mounted mine into my console. I did a custom install and another thing the positive wire that comes with the unit is useless way under sized for a 12 volt electrical system I upgraded mine to 12 gauge wires and a 14 gauge ground wire. But everyone into stereo systems you will be very satisfied with this equalizer.

Problem installing rca's
Works fine BUT- I had same problem as others. One of the RCA plugs broke loose inside when I installed my cables, messing up the master volume. I've got the cables zip-tied at the rear which keeps the circuit board from shorting out. The RCA cables I used fit very tightly and were difficult to install. From now on when I install cables (to any unit) I will install them onto another device first, like an old CD player to make sure they are not too tight. You shouldn't have to use so much force that it breaks the unit you are installing them on. I don't think it was the fault of the EQ here. Everything about the unit seems to be of very good quality and the EQs performance is great. Clean and clear sound, and the preamp voltage rise really cranks up my amplifier's output. I really like this EQs variable sub frequency control. It allows you to change the crossover frequency right from the dash instead of resetting the amp. Works awesome-I can optimize hz values for different music on the fly. It makes a huge difference in dialing in the perfect sound, song to song. The rest of of this EQs performance is very good too. Master volume, sub volume and f/r fader-all good. The four band EQ boost/cut +/-18db provides a definitely noticeable difference when you dial the controls. Overall a very good unit. Would purchase again. The variable sub frequency control really gets it done-5 stars. Update Review 2-25-15 Purchased another S4EQ for another vehicle. Pre-installed my cables onto the old head unit before using them on the new EQ. No problems. Using the EQ on a sub only signal from my head unit then to an amp. EQ door speakers with a seven band Clarion. Works great. Love controlling volumes AND sub frequency (S4EQ) using three easy to reach dials. No having to read displays while I'm driving. SSL S4EQ-Spot on. Perfect for a great price. Would definitely use again.

Not only for cars
I have a mixed audio setup, two hand-assembled speakers 2x45W and one 300W subwoofer. Needed a crossover with controllable low pass filter, this one does a good job plus easy volume / balance and basic equalizer. Looks very nice. If you want to power this with a custom PSU or computer just connect GND to black (GND) and connect both VCC and CONTROL to +12V. Green illumination corresponds well to my green-blue themed liquid cooling. EDIT: The only bad thing was that there was no information provided how remote turn-on logic works and I spent ~15min experimenting (tried connecting to ground, using a resistor, applying +5V (MOSFET matybe?) and finally found you just connect it together with VCC.

Eq
Great product. I would recommend this sound storm laboratories equalizer to any one who want to improve the quality of they're systems sound. Works great. It is getting a little feed back but I think it's just a ground issue.

S4EQ-4
This equalizer was the perfect addition to my sound system. I had originally purchased the Cadence eq but the blue back light drove me crazy! The Cadence product was a seven band & I actually prefer the 4 band equalizer. 7 bands felt a little like overkill. The separate controls for the sub woofer is awesome giving you the ability to make instant adjustments depending on the type of music or quality of recording. The green back lighting is a perfect match with my dash lighting (2003 Kia Sorento) & I have a Kenwood X994 head unit that the color is adjustable so everything matches. My only gripe with the equalizer & it's a small one is the picture shows that the markers on each dial is back lit & they're not so you really can't see the dials at night. The rca outputs are 7V so you can turn the gains down on your amps & your speakers & subs will still play loud & clear. The 1/2 din size makes installation pretty easy but keep your dremel nearby. Bottom line is that this is an inexpensive but significant upgrade to any aftermarket sound system.

Sound Storm Laboratories S4EQ 4 Band Graphic Equalizer
This is a nice little unit. The Sound Storm Laboratories S4EQ 4 Band Graphic Equalizer with a Subwoofer Crossover and Input Gain control with a Master Volume Control allows you to input a sound source into this unit and then feed the signal on into amps for the speaker drivers and control these sounds with a equalized control point. The Subwoofer crossover is adjustable across a band of frequency of 40 to 150 Hz. which allows you to tune your sub feed for the best sound for your use.

Great little unit, one moderate flaw
I have never owned an in-dash EQ before, but I am an Audio Engineer by profession, so I know a fair amount about audio. I bought this unit to give me greater control over my 4-channel amp and my monoblock sub amp. This unit is hands-down much better than your average head-unit's EQ. I love the crossover freq knob for the sub channel. This is crucial and I will never live without one again. Having the subwoofer volume and fader right at my fingertips is also tremendous. The unit seems well-built, and I am getting LOTS of clean signal with this EQ. Just some slight hiss when all is quiet. You can even cut back on the high freq knob to get rid of most of the hiss if needed, but it is VERY minor.
On to the flaw of this unit:
The 4-band EQ is heavily congested in the lower-mid spectrum, and only gives you one band for high frequencies. That normally wouldn't be so bad, but the top band is 20KHZ which is at the VERY top end of what you can hear. Pair that with the fact that the "mid" band is set at 1khz (too low) and you have a HUUUGE gap in the frequency band that you can do nothing about. I ended up using the mid and high bands from my head unit to give me more control. I find it hilarious that 2 of my 3 bands in my in-dash fit in the hole this unit left. I will try to show how much of a gap this unit has:
Hopefully this will visually show you what I am describing.
Having said all that, I am still extremely happy with this unit. It has boosted the signal, given me greater control, and it even looks very nice. I would recommend this unit to anyone on a budget who really gets into the hobby and wants more stuff to play with, and better sound.

Great bang for buck
I have been into car audio since the 1980s.
Ran across this unit which specified it had a variable subwoofer xover from 30Hz to 250Hz. The reviews were good so thought I'd try it out. The xover on this unit works great!! for this price.
I've used a few crossovers in the past and this one I like very much.
As far as the equalizer I cannot comment, since I have not used it, but the pots/controls on this unit are tight and seem to be pretty good quality. I do know that the equalizer controls do Not seem to effect the subwoofer output, so probably only effects the front and rear outputs on this thing.
The subwoofer gain and the master volume gain work great as well.
The unit looks nice too. Plexiglass top looks cool.
Was thinking to purchase an extra one for backup. It's hard to find good equipment, especially when stuff that you like gets discontinued.
They say you get what you pay for, but I think you get a little more than you pay for with this unit.

Very versital
I bought this to control my three amps, my sub amp and my rear amp and front amp. It is not a "graphic Eq" as advertised but a parametric Eq, that makes no difference in sound though! It does sound great and does not add any noise into the system. It is nice to be able to control not only the frequency but the volume of the sub amp as well. It is a nice quality unit especially for the price! The control knobs are a little small but once set I rarely ever touch them. The case is well built and has an interesting clear top panel that shows the circuitry inside, kinda neat but it really cant be seen once it's mounted, at least the way I have it mounted. This is the fourth SSL product I have purchased and I am very happy with the quality of all the units I bought. The prices are excellent for what you get! I bought three SSL "Evolution" amps as well and have ran them very hard for a long time, even at two ohm loads and they run cool and have never gone into protection even once. I will continue to buy from them as long as they keep their prices low!

Bang for your Buck
I needed a passive device that would control various settings for my car subwoofer including a dedicated volume control for the sub only, I could not be happier with this purchase. This unit turns on with the head unit and also allows a separate IPod or accessory input to the EQ, faceplate illumination can be changed from green to red, (I needed Red), also has line level input adjustments so any input you supply to EQ can be modulated to be the same volume as head unit. In other words if you have a CD Changer unit separate from your head unit when switching from a CD played in the head unit and another being played from the CD changer in the trunk there will be no marked volume difference between the units. Nothing worse than having a nice song playing at a medium volume level to then be followed by one that scares the bejezzuz out of you because it is five or six volume settings louder because of a line level input difference. This unit makes all of your different speakers and input devices work nice together, well worth the money
